It's hard to believe it's officially been an entire year since first launching the Let's Get Norman To Italy Campaign on January 10th, 2018.
Collectively we were able to raise over $6,300 to get Norman to Italy for his 67th Birthday. On April 24th, 2018, Norman, Kathleen & Skyler traveled to Rome, Italy for 6 days and 5 nights. During that time Norman heard Pope Francis offer mass to over 25,000 people, listened to his first live opera, felt the floor of the Sistine Chapel, ate delicious authenti...
Norman's journey ended on a high note or should we say- wine note.
Norman spent his final day traveling to Santa Benedetta Winery, an hour outside of Rome in a small town called Frascati. He was able to explore the beautiful vineyard and partook in a wine tasting. Norman was able to try two white wines & one red accompanied by olive oil made on the premsise, fresh tomatoes, house-made bread and an assortment of authentic sheep and cow cheeses.
We got our first Italian pizza, did lots more exploring, explored a meal prepared right in front of us and danced all night long at a Small Music Club called Big Mama's which was definitely a highlight of our trip!
Day 3 was Norman's 67th Birthday! It felt more like a dream than just another day in Rome.
Norman started the morning off bright and early with a special tour of the Vatican made specifically for those with visual impairments. He was able to feel statues and the 13th century floor of the Sistine Chapel. Our tour guide, Sarah, was more of angel then a guide. She describe everything in detail to Norman perfectly which was pretty magical to witness. Along on the tour with Norman were two women from...
Day 2 was by far one of Norman's favorite! (Watch the full video recap below!)
It started off with the Papal Audience which was a dream come true for Norman. He was able to hear Pope Francis deliver mass. Afterwards, Norman had a quick cappuccino followed by lunch where he tried limoncello for the first time.
Later that afternoon we were picked up by our tour guide Leonardo...in a golf cart. Norman, believe it or not, was a bit hesitant at first. But as soon as he exchanged a few Italian words wi...
Day 1 was "fantastico" (as they would say in Rome)!
Upon arriving to our AirBnB from the airport, Norman immediately made friends with Sarah, our host, even buying Norman his first cappuccino in Rome! He had lunch around the corner at Papa Rex's, took a power nap, made a wish a the Trevi Fountain before heading to dinner and topped the night off with...gelato! Take a look for yourself with the recap video below!
